Cui Dingchen didn’t move. He looked straight at Xu Zhao until his eyes turned red and his vision blurred. He still stared at Xu Zhao intently, afraid that if he blinked, Xu Zhao would be lying again.
“Youngest uncle,” Xu Zhao called again.
This call woke Cui Dingchen up. Cui Dingchen slowly stood and walked toward Xu Zhao’s bedside. When he reached Xu Zhao’s side, he suddenly took Xu Zhao, who was sitting up on the bed, into his arms. His voice was hoarse as he called, “Xu Zhao.”
Xu Zhao’s voice was weak as he responded, “Youngest uncle, it’s me.”
“Xu Zhao.”
“Youngest uncle.”
Cui Dingchen seemed to be talking to himself. “Xu Zhao, you’re finally awake.”
Hearing this, Xu Zhao replied, “Mn, I’m awake.”
He hugged Xu Zhao close, feeling his body temperature. Hearing Xu Zhao’s reply, Cui Dingchen knew that he wasn’t dreaming. This wasn’t a dream. His arms tightened around Xu Zhao involuntarily, as if to confirm that this was real. However, he forgot to control his strength.
Xu Zhao, who was sore from lying down, couldn’t help but cry out in pain.
Pain?
It was like an electric shock hit Cui Dingchen. He quickly let go of Xu Zhao and asked, “Does it hurt? Where does it hurt? Is it your head? Does your head hurt again?”
Seeing Cui Dingchen’s distressed look, Xu Zhao was also distressed. He extended his hand to hold Cui Dingchen’s hand and said, “Youngest uncle, my head doesn’t hurt.”
Cui Dingchen anxiously asked, “Then where does it hurt? Where does it hurt?”
“You were just hugging me too tightly before.”
Cui Dingchen was stunned and slightly embarrassed.
Xu Zhao laughed.
However, Cui Dingchen didn’t let down his guard. He had Xu Zhao sit still, quickly wiped his eyes again, then rushed to find a doctor. He watched with bated breath as the doctor examined Xu Zhao. When he saw the doctor retrieve the examination tools, he immediately stepped up to ask about the situation, making sure to ask in detail.
The doctor was very responsible and answered every single question. He expressed to Cui Dingchen that according to common sense, Xu Zhao wouldn’t fall into another coma. It was just that his body was a bit weak, and he needed to recuperate. During the entire process, the doctor would say “according to common sense”.
Cui Dingchen asked, “Then what about not according to common sense?”
The doctor couldn’t answer for a moment. AFter all, Xu Zhao’s situation was too special.
Cui Dingchen wanted to keep asking questions but was interrupted by Xu Zhao, “Youngest uncle.”
Cui Dingchen looked at Xu Zhao.
Xu Zhao softly said, “I’m fine.”
Cui Dingchen also knew that Xu Zhao’s situation was special. Countless doctors, even in Shanghai, were helpless. In the end, he didn’t ask the doctor anymore and apologized for his behavior. Afterward, he took care of Xu Zhao according to the doctor’s instructions. He poured water for Xu Zhao, bought porridge for Xu Zhao, and washed Xu Zhao’s face and helped him gargle water… Although he was busy without any rest, his eyes never left Xu Zhao for more than five minutes.
Of course, Xu Zhao also kept looking at Cui Dingchen.
After eating the porridge, Cui Dingchen asked, “Do you want to lie for a while?”
Xu Zhao gently shook his head. “I’ve been lying too long. I want to get up and walk for a bit.”
“Okay, I’ll help you.”
“Mn.”
Xu Zhao really had been lying for a long time. He suddenly got up, but his legs were still a bit soft. Fortunately, Cui Dingchen supported him. He smiled and looked at Cui Dingchen, then turned to look at Xu Fan, who was on the other bed. Xu Fan was snoring as he slept. His small mouth was slightly pursed. His two small, meaty hands were to his side. He looked like a cute little cat. It was very good looking.
Xu Zhao’s eyes greedily watched him. He took two steps toward Xu Fan and touched Xu Fan’s face with affection. He said, “Xu Fan also lost weight.”
Cui Dingchen nodded. “He had a fever for a couple days.”
Xu Zhao gently said, “I know.”
Cui Dingchen puzzledily looked at Xu Zhao.
Xu Zhao calmly said, “I heard everything.”
“Then you…”
Watching the sleeping Xu Fan, Xu Zhao said, “Youngest uncle, let’s talk outside.”
Xu Zhao and Cui Dingchen slowly walked to the backyard of the hospital. The backyard had numerous planted trees. At this moment, they were lush with greenery. The breeze gently blew, and there was a faint fragrance floating in the air. Xu Zhao looked at his surroundings. Everything was much behind the world of the 21st century, but it was very intimate.
Perhaps it was because he had originally belonged to this world.
Correct, he was originally a person from this world, and the original Xu Zhao was the one from that world. However, at the time of reincarnation, something went wrong, causing him to go to the 21st century and the original Xu Zhao to come to this world in the 80s.
He always thought that he was a transmigrator, but in fact, he was switching with the original Xu Zhao to their rightful places. His headache and coma wasn’t an illness, and it had nothing to do with Shen Jiayang either. He was being summoned. He and the original Xu Zhao had been summoned. The two were given a chance to choose. During the process of choosing, he saw the original Xu Zhao’s life while in the 21st century.
The original Xu Zhao was living very well. His biological parents had found him and made it up to him. He also met his true love. Xu Zhao should have been jealous, but he missed Cui Dingchen and Xu Fan like crazy. He heard Cui Dingchen and Xu Fan’s voices, and struggled for many days before he was able to return.
He had finally returned to this world.
Of course, he didn’t plan on telling Cui Dingchen such a weird story. Instead, he told him that he had a dream. He dreamt about his past and future. Suddenly, it was difficult for him to move forward, and that was why he’d slept for so long.
“Why did you have that kind of dream?” Cui Dingchen asked.
Xu Zhao was silent for a moment before saying, “If I said that time and space had turned chaotic, would you believe me?”
Cui Dingchen said without hesitation, “I believe you.”
Xu Zhao looked at Cui Dingchen with surprise.
Cui Dingchen held Xu Zhao’s hand and said, “In the over half a month while you were asleep, all the good and bad things, all the logical and illogical things, I thought it over. I even prayed to the heavens and to the gods that you would wake up. I don’t care if the world collapses or if time and space becomes chaotic. I just want to know if you’ll fall back asleep and never wake up again?”
Xu Zhao looked at Cui Dingchen with affection and replied, “I won’t.”
Cui Dingchen nervously asked, “Will you always be with me?”
“Yes,” Xu Zhao firmly said.
This was enough. It was enough. Cui Dingchen reached out his hand and pulled Xu Zhao into his arms.
Xu Zhao hugged Cui Dingchen’s waist. He was obviously thinner than before. He said, “Youngest uncle, you lost a lot of weight.”
“Mn, I missed you too much.”
Xu Zhao laughed and said, “Starting from today, you have to eat more.”
“I’ll listen to you,” Cui Dingchen easily replied.
Xu Zhao laughed. He smelled the faint scent of soap from Cui Dingchen’s body, and said, “Youngest uncle, let’s go back?”
Cui Dingchen asked, “Are you tired?”
“No, I’m worried Xu Fan will wake up and not be able to find us.”
“Okay, let’s go back.”
The two slowly went upstairs. As soon as they turned the corridor, they saw a chubby boy with meaty legs paddling out of the door of the ward. His small face was dazed and his speech wasn’t clear as he said, “Doctor, doctor. My daddy is gone. My daddy is gone!”
“Little Baobao, who’s your daddy?” a young doctor asked.
Xu Fan’s small, meaty hands rubbed his little clothes as he said, “My daddy’s name is Xu Zhao. H-he’s sleeping. He’s gone.”
It took a while for the doctor to figure out what Xu Fan’s little milky voice was saying and react. They asked, “Where was your daddy sleeping?”
“Over there. There.” Xu Fan pointed his small, meaty finger.
Cui Dingchen laughed as he watched. The little guy knew to ask a doctor.
Xu Zhao’s eyes turned red as he watched. He softly called, “Xu Fan.”
Xu Fan didn’t hear him.
Xu Zhao raised his voice. “Xu Fan!”
Hearing this, Xu Fan turned his head. When he saw Xu Zhao, he completely froze.
Xu Zhao and Cui Dingchen slowly walked to Xu Fan.
Xu Fan’s watery eyes stared straight at Xu Zhao.
Xu Zhao tenderly looked at Xu Fan and asked, “What? Xu Sanwa, Xu Baobao, do you not recognize me anymore? You don’t know who I am?”
Xu Fan dazedly said, “You’re my daddy.”
“You still know that I’m your daddy.”
As soon as Xu Zhao finished speaking, Xu Fan cried out with a “wah”.
“Daddy, Daddy!” His cries were very loud, and his little face was flushed.
Xu Zhao tears welled up as well.
Worried that Xu Fan would disturb the other patients, Cui Dingchen picked Xu Fan up, then led Xu Zhao into the ward. He immediately closed the door.
However, Xu Fan still cried, looking very aggrieved.
Xu Zhao sat on the stool and held Xu Fan in his lap. He coaxed and said, “All right, all right. Don’t cry, don’t cry. Daddy’s here.”
Xu Fan’s two small arms hugged around Xu Zhao’s neck before he finally stopped crying. His little face was pressed to Xu Zhao’s chest as he stayed silent. He’d never been this obedient before.
Xu Zhao held Xu Fan’s small, meaty hand and asked, “Did you miss Daddy?”
Xu Fan hummed in agreement.
Xu Zhao kissed Xu Fan’s small, meaty hand and said in a gentle voice, “Wasn’t Daddy here the entire time?”
Xu Fan’s watery eyes stared at Xu Zhao as he said in a milky voice, “B-but Daddy, you slept for so long. You i-ignored me when I spoke to you.”
Xu Zhao guilty said, “I’m sorry. Daddy was wrong. If Xu Fan talks in the future, Daddy won’t ignore you, okay?”
Xu Fan nodded.” Okay. Daddy can’t sleep for so long either.”
“Okay, I won’t sleep so long anymore. Go get your shoes. Daddy will help you put them on.”
“Not wearing shoes. Daddy, hug me.” Xu Fan tightly stuck to Xu Zhao’s body.
“…”
Xu Zhao also felt that he hadn’t seen Xu Fan in a century, so he just held him like this. However, Cui Dingchen was worried about Xu Zhao’s body and said, “I’ll hold him.”
“No.” Before Xu Zhao could speak, Xu Fan directly opened his mouth and refused.
“…” Cui Dingchen looked at Xu Fan and said, “Daddy just recovered. You’ll make your daddy tired.”
Hearing this, Xu Fan raised his small face and looked at Xu Zhao.
Xu Zhao lowered his head to look at Xu Fan.
Xu Fan was very sensible and said, “Daddy, I’ll get down.”
Xu Zhao laughed. Hugging Xu Fan, he said, “Daddy will hug you for five more minutes.”
Xu Fan immediately hugged Xu Zhao. He turned to Cui Dingchen and said, “My daddy said he’ll hold me for five more minutes.”
Cui Dingchen: “…”
Five minutes later, Cui Dingchen carried Xu Fan to the hospital bed and began to put on socks and shoes for Xu Fan. He was already proficient at doing this. When Xu Zhao saw this, the corners of his mouth rose in a smile. He said, “Youngest uncle, thank you.”
Cui Dingchen shifted his gaze over. His eyes were clear as water. He gently asked. “What are you thanking me for?”
Xu Zhao said, “Thank you for taking care of Xu Fan so well.”
“This is my son.”
Xu Zhao laughed and said, “Our son.”
Cui Dingchen’s eyes immediately lit up as he said, “Yes, our son.”
After dressing Xu Fan, Xu Zhao also stood up to take a walk. In reality, he had only been lying for too long. After walking, his body felt much more comfortable. He wanted to be discharged immediately, but Cui Dingchen didn’t agree. In the end, they decided to have him observed for one more night.
The next day, there weren’t any big problems with the check up. And in the afternoon, Cui Dingchen packed up the pots and pans, toothbrushes and toothpaste, bedsheets and covers, etc. He took Xu Zhao and Xu Fan back to South Bay Village. As soon as they arrived at South Bay Village, they were welcomed by the villagers.
Xu Zhao and Cui Dingchen thanked them, then returned to the Xu residence where they saw Mother and Father Xu’s red eyes from crying.
Xu Zhao laughed and said, “Mom, Dad, I’m fine. Aren’t I doing well now?”
Mother Xu touched Xu Zhao’s arm and asked, “Are you really okay?”
“I’m really okay.”
Mother Xu reached out her hand to wipe the tears and said, “As long as you’re okay. As long as you’re okay. Hurry and come inside to rest.”
Mother Xu pulled Xu Zhao to the west wing room.
Father Xu followed.
Xu Fan hadn’t left Xu Zhao’s side these past few days. It was the same for Cui Dingchen. However, he was still busy with the vegetable greenhouse matters today. After talking with Xu Zhao, he quickly went to settle the matters. After he was finished, it was already dark.
Mother Xu made a large table full of dishes. Considering that Xu Zhao, Cui Dingchen, and Xu Fan had only recently recovered and couldn’t eat things that were too oily or spicy, Mother Xu made light dishes. The family had a rare, happy dinner.
Mother Xu talked about what had happened these past few weeks, focusing on Cui Dingchen’s hard work. Cui Dingchen laughed and said, “It’s okay. It wasn’t hard.”
Mother Xu immediately retorted, “You’re still saying it wasn’t hard. You took care of everything inside and outside of our two families..”
Cui Dingchen smiled but didn’t make a sound. After the meal, he wanted to wash the dishes but was stopped by Mother Xu. She told him to go rest. Unable to persuade Mother Xu, he could only go on a walk with Xu Zhao and Xu Fan. When they returned, he told Xu Zhao to have a rest. Meanwhile, he washed Xu Zhao’s hands, face, butt, then placed Xu Fan on the bed. The moment he picked up the basin to wash his feet, he staggered.
“Youngest uncle!” Xu Zhao called out.
Cui Dingchen turned his head and smiled while saying, “I’m fine.”
Xu Zhao asked, “Did you feel dizzy just now?”
Cui Dingchen didn’t deny it. It was only yesterday that he started feeling a bit better from his cold, but in the past few weeks, the physical fatigue and damage done to his body was too much. Therefore, after kneeling for too long, he didn’t feel well.
Xu Zhao said, “Don’t go back tonight. Stay here and rest more.”
Cui Dingchen was stunned. His heartbeat quickened as he asked, “T-Then where will I sleep?”
The questions are being answered finally! Now we know the true reason for his transmigration. Just in time since we’re almost done with the novel. Just 5 chapters left of the main text, then 10 extras.
And surprise update! I will finish uploading this series soon. Expect about 4 chapters each week 🙂
I didn’t get it. Like he was the one who was pregnant like that introverted person or what? Ori xu zhao was of 21st century?… It doesn’t make sense ( if any one can explain plz)
For the sake of the explanation, I will call Xu Zhao, the main character of this novel Transmigrator, and the original owner of the body Original.
So basically there’s a bit of the multiverse happening here where there are multiple versions of yourself in different worlds/dimensions.
During reincarnation, Transmigrator was supposed to be reborn in the 80s and Original was supposed to be reborn in the modern world, but because of a mix up, they got switched and were reborn in the wrong timeline/world.
That’s what Transmigrator finds out in this chapter, and it clarifies that him coming to the 80s now is fixing the mix up that happened during reincarnation.
Hope that makes sense~
